The Mayor and The Rooster were already asleep when K found Rooster's favorite stuffed duck on our bed.
He picked it up and took it to her room.
I noticed that he held the duck close to his face and seemed to be muttering to it.
I must have been looking at him oddly when he returned because he explained himself.
"I talk to their animals," he said.
"I whisper to them."
"I tell them it's their responsibility to keep the children safe."
"I mean, they're right there, sleeping beside them."
I love that man.

Oh. How. Precious. I love it.
And now I love him too. This is AWESOME.
He talks to the animals. That is nice.
What a good Daddy.
That is hilarious.
My husband would never do that, but he did tell our toddler the other day that clearly, his guardian angel was working overtime.
That is one of the sweetest things I have ever heard!
That Dr. Doolittle of yours is a keeper.
Love it.
That's just about the sweetest thing I've ever heard.
What a man! I love the way his heart thinks!
Aww. That's amazing. I like it.
should i ever be blessed to pop another monkey out, the daddy in question had best think just like this.
oh man. TOTALLY. What a gem.
What a sweetheart!
Oh, dear me!
Aw, does he know you tell us all this?
The velveteen rabbit left quite an impression on him!
That's lovely.
What a dear sentiment!
My *special* daughter, Vivian, loves her stuffed animals. She has at least five dogs, all different shapes, sizes and colors, and all named "Sam." One of them is a life-sized dalmatian. She carried that Sam to school with her one day. My son happened to drive by her school on his way to drop off a friend, and he told me, "Mom, I saw Vivian walking around the track today. I could tell it was Vivian because she was carrying that huge black and white dog."
I definitely should whisper to Vivian's animals to take care of her since they accompany her everywhere. Tell K thanks for the idea.
Oh, you've got your own Doctor Doolittle, and he's not afraid to own up to it. Lucky dog, you.
That melted my heart, it's now just a gooey mess. You're one lucky woman.
Great man. I do the same thing. I hug Patrick's piggy as if it is my sweet boy. I kiss it and return it to him, a surrogate mom in the night.
Oh, that's a good man.
Be still my heart...I think I love him too! ;)
Awww... that man melts my heart!
