Today is Friday the 13th. Hee Hee Hee Haa Haa Haa!
So what is The Family Joy planning?
Why, we're going camping of course! (All good ideas originate here.)
Camping is an especially stupid idea because Rooster Girl has been waking up and SCREAMING every night from 2:00 - 3:30 a.m. for no reason that we've been able to identify. I'll just rely on the universal default explanation... "She must be teething."
The four of us are going to be quite the happy, little family when she starts up in the tent in the middle of the night.
Four people.
One tent.
The deep, dark night.
One girl baby yelling loudly.
We'll be the family in the woods yelling, "Hey Jason, COME AND GET HER!!!!"

You're not going to 'Camp I'm a dumb blonde doing my boyfriend as he gets whacked by Jason' are you? Just checking.
Brave, you are brave. And, I'm not talking about the Jason/Friday 13th aspect of it. Of course, coming from a city urban dweller with no love for nature whatsoever, going on a picnic seems brave to me. Have a blast!
That is awesome. Just remember when you are running up the wet hill from Jason to look back and fall down alot!
Ooooooh, you're scaring me! Have fun, you brave soul.
You should come camp up here and scare the bears away for us.
PS: I will think of you tonight at 3 when I'm up with Cade for the billionth time.. actually, does it count as being "up" if he's in your goddamned bed?!?!?!?!? I'm having a parenting nightmare over here, and the worst of it is..it's my own fault!
I love it! Take the bull by the horns! On the scariest day of the year, re-enact the intro to a horror movie.
Seriously, I love it. I think it's hysterical.
Have a great time!
oooh that's scary. what's even scarier is the thought of going camping at this time of year - where do you live? hope it's nice and warm there cos here (uk) it's v rainy and quite chilly. do you camp in the middle of nowhere or do you have to go to designated sites? here it's so regulated that impromptu camping isn't really viable. have fun. don't forget the corkscrew! (like we did)
If you see a guy in a hockey mask, RUN!!!
Enjoy your fun in the woods. I gave up on that particular joy in life after being ravaged by chiggers in the woods in FL!
Something tells me that she'd scare Jason off. She'd better...Otherwise, I'M GONNA KICK JASON'S ASS!!! BRING IT, JASON!!! YOU FRICKIN' PANSY! you ain't so bad...Ruby'll kick your ass.
Have a great weekend! :)
i am not blair witch i am not blair witch i am not blair witch....
I'm with Jen... Blair Witch is waaaaay scarier than Jason.
As an aside... the waking up screaming is something that WonderBaby has been doing as well, and it's been suggested to us that she might be having night terrors. I received some useful and instructive comments about it on my last post at urbanmoms.ca (http://urbanmoms.typepad.com/the_mother_hood/2006/10/thank_you_all_s.html)
POst when you return so I don't have to worry that the Blair Witch got you...
You are TOTALLY insane!!! I can't wait to hear how it went! I don't even want to visit someone else's house with all my children. I especially don't want to take them out into the wilderness with only fabric walls surrounding us.
Let me know if Ruby eats half of the forest floor. That's what Alex would be doing.
Eeeeeeeeeeek scared just by the picture. Did it all go okay? Does she have ear infection?
Lisa
You are a brave woman. I hope you survive the weekend! Let us know how it went!
you guys have balls. all of you.
I did that once with friends with small children. Never again until my own are at least double digit age....
Hey if we're real lucky, joy wont come back.....*grin*
I'm looking forward to hearing how this went. In the woods, no one can hear you scream.
Or maybe you'll be wishing that at 2 AM.
Good luck! If you see any stick symbols hanging from trees I recommend packing the tent up quickly and heading to a HoJo.
Ooh, I eagerly await the follow-up post on this one.m
How fantastic! I can't wait to hear how it went - and, if you liked the place, where you went.
Hope that it was fun and everyone came back in one piece!
Hope you have (had) a big tent. Our first camping trip with our kids made us realize that our tent was NOT big enough for the four of us, so the baby and I got to sleep in the car. Not too comfortable, but far better than the tent. Our next camping trip went much better because we bought a HUGE tent. And then, our two little ones decided they wanted their OWN tent, so they slept in the formerly too small tent, and we had a tent that was way too big for the two of us!
BTW, when my kids wake up screaming in the middle of the night it's practically always for one of three reasons: 1 is gas, 2 is an ear infection, and 3 is a nightmare.
GOOD LUCK!
